Well, autumn is on us, and many of the crops are waiting to be harvested. For many areas in the Midwest, it’s too wet to get in the fields. While it’s not late in the season, it is still a concern.

The cold snap in September damaged some of the Sunflower crop in northern Minnesota and western North Dakota. Fortunately, South Dakota and on south was spared. The continual rain this past summer has hurt some of the small grains: oats, wheat, barley, and rye. The quality just isn’t there.

West of the Rockies is extremely dry, affecting even irrigated crops. Remember the three things that determine good quality seed: inherent nutrition, 2) heavy test weight, and 3) cleanliness. If any one of these three points is compromised, the quality automatically drops. While this may seem like a lot to live up to, our customers have come to expect this from us and we intend to continue to be your dependable highest quality supplier.
